Ex-Officio Chair
SCA mourns Dwane Henning |
Sound Christian Academy is grieving the loss of Dwane Henning, 71, who was called home to glory last week at his home in Lakewood, Wash. Dwane served on the Tacoma Baptist Schools (TBS), then Sound Christian Academy (SCA), Board of Directors (BOD) for six years, including two as the Chairman before transitioning this year into the Ex-Officio Chair role. Dwane was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just nine weeks ago. His wife, Abby, was at his side when he passed away. Born in Lithgow, New South Whales, Australia on April 30, 1950, Dwane is survived by his wife, five children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dwane had deep Christian convictions to always work hard and help others. As a long-time business owner of Future Homes of Bremerton he loved seeing people’s home buying dreams come true. His involvement on the BOD was impactful as part of the Resource Development Committee. Dwane was deeply invested in the school’s rebranding efforts and current successful trajectory. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23 at Mountain View Cemetery in Lakewood (https://www.mountainviewtacoma.com/). A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Evangelical Reformed Church (https://solideogloria.org/). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to SCA in memory of Dwane (https://soundchristianacademy.org/advancement/giving-to-sca/). |
