Sound Christian Academy (SCA) is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, experienced Dean of Education to join the Dean of Students, Director of Athletics, Director of Advancement, and Director of Finance in helping chart the course for the next 60 years of providing high quality, biblically based education.

The Dean of Education oversees five Academic Department Chairs, two Division Leads, College & Career Counselor/Registrar, and works closely with two support staff, the Director of Admissions, and the Marketing Communications Manager, among other academic and operational support staff.

SCA is a growing, private, Christian K-12 school serving south Tacoma, WA, for over 60 years by providing affordable, quality educational programs, including robust athletics, engaging arts, and integrated technology. Formerly Tacoma Baptist Schools, 2020-21 was a year of transformation and comprehensive rebranding.

Sound Christian Academy has an opening for two Elementary School teachers for the 2022-23 school year. We are looking for dynamic teachers who are ready to join a strong elementary team focused on innovative, quality instruction and discipling students as they grow in their faith.

Teacher must be able to teach from a Biblical worldview perspective.

One to three years of prior experience and Washington state certification preferred.

Business & Finance Manager

Position Summary: Seeking a highly motivated and experienced accounting professional to be a part of the Business and Finance Team.  

 

Responsible for performing bookkeeping tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and budget tracking. Submit tax forms both quarterly and annually: L&I, use tax, 1099. Assist with student account maintenance and tuition agreements (FACTS Management Systems). As well as following up on delinquent accounts and working with families to bring their accounts current.  

 

The ideal person is detail-oriented, has great customer service skills, and can manage multiple tasks and interruptions.

Sound Christian Academy is hiring substitute bus drivers. Flexible hours. Driver needed for regular afternoon route, field trips during the school day, and occasional afternoon/evening athletic transportation. Applicants are required to have their CDL (In some cases training will be covered by the school), be CPR and first aid certified, and meet the WDOT physical requirements. Job Summary: Directs cheer program for fall and winter sport seasons. Ability to instruct and motivate students for a sideline based cheer program, not stunt or competitive based. This position requires extensive evening and some weekend work. Must be available for practice after school and willing and able to accompany and supervise the cheerleading squad at all home and away games during the season.
Essential Job Functions

  • Conduct annual tryouts and team selection.
  • Coach and work with cheerleaders to learn and practice cheers.
  • Supervise cheerleaders at Pep Assemblies and all home and away games.
  • Work with cheerleaders and parents in fund-raising efforts.
  • Advise cheerleaders following policy in the Co-curricular Code.

Other Job Functions

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience Required

  • Cheerleading experience and background is an asset.
  • Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required

Licenses & Certifications

  • High School graduate.
  • WIAA Stunt Certification Preferred
